Somewhere along the quiet corridors of white washed walls,

bright blue roofs and vibrant pops of pink and purple flowers, set against the backdrop of vast greens and blues of the Aegean Sea a labyrinth of stairs seemingly leading to nowhere and everywhere at the same time exists beyond infamy.

I walked in slow motion, mouth agape wondering how I had ended up in my very own Google search results. I stood there frozen for a few moments, indecisively wondering if I should turn left or right or go up or down. To the right it was.

A recently married couple posed for an anxious photograph who was determined not to let the setting sun go to waste. While a group of teenagers briefly traded ice cream cones, each one lamenting that theirs was the best flavor.

Pastel colored doors with intricate locks around every corner beckoned to be opened as I imagined the secrets they held within. An older woman sat on a stool feeding a bevy of cats and the sound of dinner glasses and muted cheers could be heard off in the distance. I bet she knows what's behind those doors. As the sun set, the night sky began to light up off in the distance and I...I realized I was lost, even with my hotel in plain sight. I temporarily convinced myself that the tears I wiped from my cheeks were representatives of the aesthetic beauty in front of me mixed with the realization of a life long dream.
